Meet Sigourney
Ada's Allies began with a recognition.
In 2023, during a season of family illness, I found myself stepping back into a role I knew well: the eldest daughter.
The responsibility felt immediate and familiar. As I navigated that season, I began reflecting on the emotional weight so many women quietly carry, often without language for it or a place to set it down.
I could not help but wonder:
Surely I am not the only woman who has experienced this.
With inspiration from the Holy Spirit, Ada's Allies was conceived as a place of recognition for eldest and designated daughters. A place where responsibility is acknowledged, rest is honored, and women are reminded that who they are is greater than what they carry.
Two years later, following the passing of my father, Ada's Allies was officially established on July 27, 2025, his birthday.
Today, that same vision continues to shape everything we create, from Ally Circles and Ada Notes to The Trove.
Why “Ada”?
Ada is the Igbo word for eldest daughter.
Within Ada's Allies, it also honors designated daughters, the women who carry eldest-daughter responsibility regardless of birth order.
What We’re Building
Ada's Allies exists to recognize, support, and celebrate eldest and designated daughters.
Through facilitated virtual gatherings, thoughtful writing, and beautifully designed objects, we're creating a community that reminds women they are worthy of care, not because of what they do for others, but because of who they are.
This is a place where recognition comes before expectation, and rest is embraced as part of a life well lived.
